Kaiwaka is a small, semi-rural town 90 minutes north of Auckland, near both the east and west coast beaches. Opened in 1870, Kaiwaka School originally served the local rural population. Today, it serves a diverse range of students from farms, lifestyle blocks, and the nearby township. Kaiwaka School is a special place with a strong sense of community. Students, staff, and families work together to maximise student learning.
The school year begins with a Whānau Picnic Day fostering these important relationships. Families are welcome to participate in school life in many ways. Students are welcomed with a powhiri, giving students and families an immediate sense of acceptance and belonging. Kaiwaka School offers unique opportunities, including extra Te Reo Maori and tikanga lessons reflecting local iwi customs and inclusive of all Aotearoa tribes.
The school has a strong Kapahaka group, performing annually at local festivals and the year-end prize giving. These performances demonstrate the dedication of students and staff and the value placed on this learning. Our goal is to develop confident, lifelong learners who are effective communicators and achieve academic excellence.
