In Attendance: Anna O’Malley taking the minutes.
Courtney welcomed everyone to the meeting.
Minutes from Last Meeting: Read as true and correct. Moved - Courtney/ Bruce.
Matters Arising:
- School house trees trimmed by painters. Sharlene to get gutter people in.
- Sports t-shirts found. Mouse poo in cupboards. School to buy large plastic containers.
- Top carpark potholes, gravel is there. Nik could take kids to help.
- Grassroots not applied for yet. Dirk away.
- Treaty training for BoT on 9/11/23.
- Chi to look at starting each BoT meeting with a karakia.
Correspondence:
- Inwards: Letter for Principal’s wellbeing funding to be moved to 2024.

Financial Report:
- Learning resources under - lots moved to online.
- Capital purchases up - devices, Maori artwork - grant given for this.
- Had a good year financially
Property Report:
- Len has resigned. Had some interest in the position.
- We have left Scope. H & K architects to oversee property developments.
- Shade sails damaged in cyclone. Need someone to re-attach bolts to building.
Staff Report:
- Pleased that report writing was done earlier.
- Seniors and juniors (Room 1,2,5,7) swapping physical classrooms.
Principal’s Report:
- Roll at 172. 37 x Year 6’s leaving.
- Attendance 83% better than the average for Northland.
- Behavioural at 87% Tier 1.
- On track for Annual Plan. Springboard for leaders coming up. Adding more literacy and Maori learning next year.
- Shack being moved into old staffroom. Library into Shack. Library being demolished over holidays. Will be called Koromiko.

Board Review Programme:
- Religious instruction policy: Reviewed and accepted.
- Student achievement information policy: Reviewed and accepted.
- Health education policy: Reviewed and accepted.
- Distance learning policy: Reviewed and accepted.
- Curriculum and student achievement policy: Reviewed and accepted.
General:
- EOY assessment results: Transient students started mid year, low. Boys, girls, ethnicities doing OK. Some children are not where we want them to be, why. Reading recovery, Toe-by-toe to help. Writing is a worldwide concern. Writer’s toolbox, magnetic resources.
- RSE survey assessment: Health and PE curriculum - take out RSE, keep ‘Navigating the Journey’ but have it as opt out, keep KOS but change it to opt out. Parents to opt out in writing.
- Parent/teacher interviews reflection - go from 10 minutes to 15 minutes next year.
